Yukon - Services for Dennis Lee Chancellor, 24, Santa Cruz, Calif., formerly of Yukon, are pending with Yanda Funeral Home. He died Monday in a car accident in Santa Cruz.

Chancellor was born in Oklahoma City, attended Yukon High School and was a 1969 graduate of Norman High School.

He is survived by a son, Christopher Lee; three brothers, Bob, 7702 Monterey; Tray, Oklahoma City and Allen, Yukon, and his mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Summers, Yukon.

Dennis Chancellor lived life to the fullest, he wore his prankster smile around the clock. He was of Italian descent, his paternal grandmother (Rosalie Rosato Piazza) parents migrated in the late 1800's from Italy and settled in the New Orleans French Quarters. Dennis maternal great grandfather migrated from Germany, ran a jewelry store in El Reno, and than moved to Fort Sill where he owned a general store. According to family lore, Geronimo was a daily visitor. Dennis grandfather, a young teen with a hunting rifle, would take the elder Geronimo squirrel hunting. Today this rifle remains in the Chancellor family.

Dennis carried a light in him that the world was a fun place to be. He said silly things that bought laughter to those around him. One time he and some friends drove through a cemetery after dark ..and proceeded to pull one of the girls out of the car to leave her in the middle of the cemetery alone..well the girl hung on the drivers wheel with a death grip and screamed for she indeed knew Dennis would leave her on the ground in the dark of night in a cemetery. Dennis soon let loose of her as her grip on the wheel was like cement and they all went home. Another time a friend in Norman got tipsy and Dennis wouldn't allow him to drive so he took his car keys from him. Dennis than picked up his friend and put him in the trunk of his car and proceeded to drive him home.

Yes, Dennis was the life of the party,...always laughing and entertaining in some fashion. Dennis had a good heart but most important of all, he was good to his mother.
